Good questions
The things people ask us.
Boiler services, certificates, finance and how we work — answered straight. If yours isn't here, call 01279 316304 and ask.
- 01How much is a boiler service?
- A boiler service starts from £85 inc VAT. A Gas Safe engineer inspects the heat exchanger, checks gas pressure and flue integrity, cleans the parts that need it and confirms the boiler is running safely and efficiently — and leaves your service record. Booking one in each year keeps the boiler safe and inside its manufacturer warranty.
- 02What are your opening hours?
- We’re open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and closed at weekends. For a boiler service or a landlord certificate we’ll book you a slot that suits. If something urgent comes up — a burst pipe or a boiler that’s stopped — call the office and we’ll tell you straight how soon we can be there.
- 03Do you provide landlord gas safety certificates (CP12)?
- Yes. We issue landlord CP12 certificates covering all the gas appliances in a property — tightness and pressure testing, flue-flow checks and confirmation every safety device works. It’s a legal requirement for rented homes, and, as one landlord’s review notes, we can often come out the same day when you’re in a hurry.
- 04Which boiler brands do you install and repair?
- We’re a Worcester Bosch accredited installer and a Baxi approved installer, and we repair and service Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Glowworm and Ravenheat. We also work with Megaflo unvented cylinders and Aqualisa showers. Ten-plus years of breakdown experience means we know these units rather than guessing at parts.
- 05Can I spread the cost of a new boiler?
- Yes — quotes on new boilers are free, and finance is available through Phoenix Financial Consultants Ltd (FSR No. 942065) so you can spread the cost. Because we’re accredited by Worcester Bosch and Baxi, we can also register manufacturer guarantees of up to 12 years (Worcester Greenstar 8000 Style) or up to 10 years’ parts and labour (Baxi).
- 06My radiators have cold spots — do I need a powerflush?
- Cold spots, slow warm-ups and a noisy boiler usually mean sludge in the system. A powerflush drives high-velocity water and cleaning chemicals through your central heating to clear out rust, sludge and debris, restoring circulation and efficiency. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth doing — several reviewers mention that we don’t recommend work that isn’t needed.
- 07Are you Gas Safe registered?
- Yes — every gas job is carried out and certified by Gas Safe registered engineers, the legal register for anyone working on gas in the UK. We’re also a Which? Trusted Trader and a Checkatrade member, and G3/BPEC qualified for unvented cylinders like Megaflo. See our guarantees page for what each accreditation means for you.
- 08Which areas do you cover?
- We’re based at Latton Green in Harlow (CM18) and cover Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Epping, Stansted, Great Dunmow, Hoddesdon, Ware and the surrounding Hertfordshire, Essex and London-border areas. We’ve carried out work as far as Colchester and Enfield too. Not sure you’re in reach? Just ask.
- 09What happens after I get in touch?
- We reply, talk through the job — a photo of the boiler, fault code or leak helps — and give you a clear price agreed before anything starts. Then a Gas Safe engineer arrives when we say, explains and often photographs what they find, completes the work to standard and leaves your home clean and tidy, with your paperwork and any guarantee registered.
